Welcome to Conflict Resolution Ministries. This is a new venture for me. After 21 years practicing law at one of the biggest law firms in the state, I decided that God was calling me to do something different with my life. I had seen lots of litigation. In fact, I liked litigation (I still do!). But I got the clear sense that God wanted me to do something different with my knowledge and experience as a lawyer and my gift of compassion for people, especially families. I sensed that God wanted me to use these gifts and skills in a way that would help people resolve their differences without destroying their relationships or, better yet, in a way that allows people to repair those relationships and reconcile themselves with each other and with God.
You’ve probably never experienced anything like Conflict Resolution Ministries. It is a distinct alternative to litigation and other conflict resolution, even to the mediation process that is prevalent in our court system today. It is, primarily, a difference in focus. My goal is never to simply resolve your dispute – the courts and “traditional” mediation are well-suited for that. My goal is to preserve, repair and restore the relationships that are jeopardized by the dispute. Especially in the family law context, the parties need to be able to discuss and resolve their differences in a way that emphasizes the important ongoing role each of them will continue to have in the life of the other (and, more importantly, their children), long after the dispute has been resolved. If the focus is on the importance of the relationships, the dispute will be resolved as well.
Much of this ministry is devoted to providing Family Mediation Services. Families are the ultimate personal relationship and therefore are most vulnerable to damage from conflict and disputes. However, Christian Mediation is helpful in any situation in which a dispute or disagreement threatens close personal relationships. We offer Civil Mediation Services to help resolve disputes between businesses and customers, neighbors, employers or employees, or anyone else looking to resolve disputes without going to court. We also offer services to Churches, Businesses and Other Organizations, where internal disputes might threaten the close personal relationships that make these organizations strong. Finally, Conflict Resolution Ministries also offers Parenting Coordination, a unique type of alternative dispute resolution for families facing exceptionally high levels of conflict after a divorce.
